After School Science Instructor

Qualified candidates will have or be working toward a degree in education or STEM subject areas, as well as have prior experience working with school age children. Applicants must be available aWe are looking for talented individuals with experience in and background knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), to plan and implement hands on enrichment classes in our after school programs on the south shore of Long Island.

This is a part time position.

Administrator for After School and Holiday Programs

We are seeking a talented individual with knowledge of the New York State School Age Child Care Regulations to oversee our After School Programs at several sites on the South Shore of Long Island, and to plan and supervise our school holiday/vacation programs.
Responsibilities include:
• Working with Site Directors
• Recruiting and interviewing potential staff
• Traveling between sites to oversee the implementation of program plans
• Reviewing policies and staff files to ensure compliance with New York State School Age Child Care Regulations
• Licensing paperwork as required
• Ordering materials and weekly food and beverages for several sites
• Communicating with parents and children
• Staff development
• Planning, organizing and supervising school holiday/vacation programs
• Troubleshooting

This position reports to the Program Director. Qualified candidates will have at least one year of experience supervising staff, extensive experience working with families and children, knowledge of OCFS regulations and a minimum of an Associate’s degree in a related field, CDA, or School Age Child Care Credential.

Applicants must have full availability from 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm on weekdays during the school year, and from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm on weekdays during school vacations/holidays, as well as reliable transportation.

This is a part time, 11 month position.

Before and After School Program Counselors

We are seeking qualified and dynamic individuals as counselors in our before and after school programs on the south shore of Nassau County, Long Island.
Counselors are responsible for assisting with and planning programs for school age children in grades K through 6 including homework help, outdoor play, sports, arts and crafts, enrichment activities, and more. Staff must undergo a background check in accordance with NYS OCFS regulations.
Applicants must be available between 7:00 and 9:00 AM for before school and/or 2:45 and 6:00 PM for after school on weekdays, with a minimum availability of 3 days per week. Applicants must have prior experience with school age children and be at least 17 years old.

Required experience:

  • school age child care: 1 year

Lifeguards

Must have current Nassau County Lifeguard Certification, current CPR/AED Certifications and current First Aid Certifications. Need good communication skills as you will be working with the general public and performing everyday lifeguarding tasks. Supervisor, Social Recreational Programs for Teens and Young Adults with Disabilities

Social Media Intern

Our marketing team is looking for an intern to help run our various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc). With such a large agency, we are looking for a responsible student who is willing to take the time to understand our agency in order to properly represent us in social media. The intern will be responsible for communicating with each of our individual departments to stay informed about our upcoming programs, taking photographs and posting about current happenings in our agency, live posting from events, and working with the marketing staff to calendar upcoming programs and events that need to be advertised on a social media platform. Photography skill a plus. Please note, this position is for school credit only.

Personal Trainer

We are looking for part-time fitness trainers. The floor trainer is responsible for managing/maintaining the fitness floor, being responsive to members and guests by offering assistance and educating members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment. This person also performs orientations/assessments, provides exercise prescriptions, answers fitness and wellness related questions in adherence with ACSM standards and guidelines, and sells personal training packages. This person has the responsibility of being responsive to members and being a resource for members needs regarding programs and classes while in the Center.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College degree required in Exercise Science, Physical Education or related field
  • Current certification from a nationally recognized agency, including ACSM, AFAA, NASM, ACE, NSPA, NSCA preferred
  • CPR/AED certifications must be current
  • Experience working with weight management and diabetes programs and clients
  •  At least two years’ experience working with fitness participants; one-on-one personal training experience desired
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of designing and modifying exercise programs for high risk clientele
  • Trainers must be able to distinguish contraindicated exercises
  • Outgoing personality and excellent communication skills are essential
  • Superior customer services skills required

Group Exercise Instructor

We’re seeking a Group Exercise instructor to lead our fitness classes. As our new Group Exercise instructor you must be:

  • Enthusiastic about group exercise classes and enjoy creating and delivering new, fresh and innovative routines
  • Confident in your professionalism by reporting on-time with a positive attitude and a passion to motivate others
  • A professional who is collaborative and a flexible leader in and out of the studio

Qualified candidates must possess all of the following:

  • One year of experience actively leading successful group exercise classes
  • Current nationally accredited group exercise certification (e.g. AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NETA)
  • Instructors teaching licensed/branded formats (e.g. Zumba) must also be trained and licensed to teach those formats
  • Current CPR/AED certification (First Aid certification is a plus)
