Summer 2018 | June 25–August 16
An amazing camp experience for Kindergarten to 4th graders
Your camper’s next adventure takes place at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, 350 acres of wooded land, open fields, and rolling hills in Wheatley Heights, NY. These grounds will be the place where your camper will develop skills, build confidence and make lifelong friends. Door to door transportation and lunch are provided daily to the campgrounds, where your child will have access to countless on site amenities.
Junior Division campers take full advantage of everything offered at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds. Campers are divided into three grade-based units, Kinderfun (for campers entering Kindergarten), Pioneers (for campers entering grades 1 & 2) and Adventurers (for campers entering grades 3 & 4). Junior Division offers an incredible variety of programming as well as our unique SPECIALTIES program. In addition your camper will escape the heat every day with supervised free-swim time as well as instructional swim taught by Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors. Catered kosher lunch and snacks are also provided daily.
Kinderfun is designed especially for campers entering Kindergarten. It offers children a chance to be part of an authentic, “big kid” camp experience within the safety of a nurturing unit all their own. Kinderfun campers have their own Unit Head. Their counselors and swim instructors are chosen for their ability to work with young campers and receive specialized training in order to encourage an easy transition for your camper to their first summer experience at our campgrounds.
Pioneers for campers entering grades 1 & 2, features full access to all that our campgrounds have to offer! Pioneers aren’t just part of the “big kid” experience; they ARE the big kids! Pioneers use every aspect of the campgrounds and in addition go on two age-appropriate day trips. Pioneers also offers the excitement of bigger individual group camp-sites, exciting performances and much, much more!
Adventurers for children entering grades 3 & 4, includes all the incredible activities and fun of camp, PLUS three age-appropriate 2-day overnight trips to exciting destinations. Past overnights have included Sesame Place, Lake Compounce, Quassi Amusement Park, and sleeping at the Norwalk Aquarium and our annual sleepover at Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds! Transportation for these overnight trips is on premier coach buses. Campers stay at modern Jewish Community Centers in the city that they are visiting. All meals (except for lunch on Day 1) are included on these overnights!
SHOWS AND EVENTS
Every summer, our campers enjoy fun shows and special activities like carnivals, late nights, magic shows, and more! And don’t forget our most exciting camp tradition… Color War!
PARENT VISITING DAY
On Parent Visiting Day, we put on a great show for our parents, give them a chance to see our campgrounds, meet the counselors, try their camper’s favorite activities and see why we have such a great time at camp! We have a Parent Late Night in addition to Parent Visiting Day where parents have a chance to watch their camper swim and join us for dinner before checking out more wonderful camp activities.
