When Harlem Was Jewish

At the turn of the twentieth century Harlem had the third largest Jewish population. Join Leslie Shatzer as we explore the Old Broadway Synagogue, with stops at famous Baptist churches which were originally built as synagogues. We will have a private tour of the Apollo Theater, shop the African Bazaar, pass by Harry Houdini’s, Richard Rogers and Shalom Aleichem’s homes and more. Lunch will be at Harlem’s Lido restaurant.

Dust off your charge cards and start shopping for your spring wardrobe! We are going to board our new JCC buses and head to the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead for a day of shopping. Estimated time of departure 9:00 AM and expected arrival back at the JCC is 5:00 PM.

Grand Central Terminal Tour

Learn the history of the train station and what stood there before. We will discuss the architecture, the Vanderbilt family and their importance of the NYC railroad. We will go into rooms that are hidden treasures, learn about the massive ceiling, and discuss the terminal’s importance during WWII.

See the show that set the standard for all future musicals. OKLAHOMA! will be playing at the John W. Engman Theater in Northport. We will head out east with a stop for lunch at a local Italian restaurant.

Lets Go to the Movies
We will board our buses and head to the movies where we will see a different film each month. We will share a meal first in a local restaurant and discuss the movie afterward.
